Create an Independent Argumentation Model
An argumentation model can reside in an independent file on a computer.
Follow these steps to create a new independent argumentation model:
- Open LogosLink Desktop.
-
If no dataset is open, click on Argumentation Model in the Home ribbon tab.
Alternatively, open the backstage and click on New, Argumentation Model.
A dialog box will be shown.
- Type in a name for the argumentation model.
-
Give the argumentation model a description, if you wish.
You can always edit this later on.
-
Enter the text content of the argumentation model.
Although you can add a text content later, it is recommended that you enter it as soon as possible, because you won't be able to carry out argumentation analysis without a text.
-
LogosLink Desktop will guess the language as soon as you leave the Content field.
You can also select a language by hand.
-
Click OK to create the argumentation model.
LogosLink Desktop shows a blank Argumentation Model window for the newly created argumentation model.
This argumentation model is not saved yet, so it only exists in memory and not on a file.
-
Save the argumentation model to a file by clicking the Save button on the Home ribbon tab.
A Save Argumentation Model As dialog box appears.
- Select the directory where you want to save the argumentation model, and give it a name.
-
Click OK to save it.
LogosLink Desktop saves it.
Once the argumentation model has been created, and even before you save it, you can add or remove elements to it.
Usually, you start by automatically parsing the text, and then add extra elements by hand.
