Search and Replace Text in a Corpus

You can easily search for text across the documents in a corpus, and even replace occurrences of the searched text with another text.

Follow these steps to search a text across a corpus:

  1. Open LogosLink Desktop.
  2. Open a corpus by clicking on the Open button in the Home ribbon tab. Alternatively, open the backstage and click on Open to select or browse for a corpus. LogosLink Desktop shows the corpus in a new window.
  3. Apply a filter or collection as necessary. Only active documents will be searched.
  4. Switch to the Corpus ribbon tab and click on Search & Replace. A Search and Replace page appears.
  5. Enter the text that you want to search.
  6. Select the properties where you want to search. By default, LogosLink Desktop searches in the documents' title and content, but you can change this.
  7. Select whether you want the search to be case sensitive, use whole words only, or ignore diacritics.
  8. When you are ready, click the button. The search results appear in the list. Search results are organised by document.
  9. You can double click a search result to navigate to the associated document and text content. You can also save the search results as a manual collection via the button, or export them to a text file by using the button.

Once you have searched for a text, you can replace every occurrence with another text if you want. Follow these steps to do it:

  1. Perform a search as indicated above.
  2. Make sure that the corpus is in read/write mode. You can check and change this via the Access Mode button in the Home ribbon tab.
  3. In the Search and Replace page, click the Replace... button. A dialog box will show.
  4. Enter the text to replace the found text with. For example, if you have searched for "immigration" and want to replace it with "migration", type in "migration".
  5. Click OK to perform the replacement. LogosLink Desktop will replace the text across the documents.
